Opening Ceremonies & Scholarship Gala

The Benefit Gala for the 25th annual Kyoto Prize Symposium will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at The Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center.

This gala celebrates the annual Kyoto Prize Laureates and helps fund the Kyoto Prize Symposium Scholarships and youth outreach efforts. The event serves as a distinguished ceremony for the Symposium honoring the Kyoto Prize Laureates and announcing the annual high school scholarship winners from San Diego & Tijuana. The six winners presented each receive a college scholarship valued at $10,000 or 100,000 pesos for the next academic year.

Since 2004, the Kyoto Symposium Organization’s (KSO) scholarship program for high school seniors in San Diego and Tijuana, combined with grants from the Inamori Foundation in Kyoto to San Diego universities, total over $5 million. The high school programs are managed in partnership with the San Diego Foundation for San Diego students, and the Fundacion de la Comunidad for Tijuana students. Along with hosting the Kyoto Prize Laureates in San Diego every March, the Kyoto Prize Symposium Scholarship program is one of KSO’s most important services tied to the Kyoto Prize.

Gala Sponsorship opportunities are available. Individual tickets: $350 / Sponsorship starting at: $5,000
