The Kyoto Symposium Organization is offering on a first come, first serve basis, FREE busing to San Diego high schools interested in attending the March 12 & 13, 2025 Kyoto Prize Symposium lectures. UCSD campus tours may be offered upon request. If you are a high school teacher/educator interested in bringing your class please contact Bryan Lusby at ksobryan@outlook.

Prof. Elliott H. Lieb
Elliott H. Lieb, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of Princeton University, is a mathematician and physicist specializing in mechanics, condensed matter theory, and functional analysis. Through his achievements in many-body physics, Lieb established a foundation for mathematical research in fields such as physics, chemistry, and quantum information sciences making significant contributions to mathematical analysis.
Prof. Elliott H. Lieb is introduced by Prof. Nigel Goldenfeld, Chancellor’s Distinguished Professorship in Physics, UC San Diego.

Analysis and Assistance of Mammalian Fertilization: Prof. Yanagimachi’s 60-year Journey
Prof. Ryuzo Yanagimachi
Ryuzo Yanagimachi, D.Sc., Professor Emeritus of the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa, was a reproductive biologist who made revolutionary contributions to both obstetric medicine and mammalian embryology through his research and development of assisted reproductive technologies. Yanagimachi’s work led to practical methods of in-vitro fertilization (IVF). A recipient of over two dozen awards, Yanagimachi received the Pioneer Award for Embryo Transfer and Reproduction Research (2000 & 2012), and was inducted to the National Academy of Sciences in 2001. He died at age 95 in September 2023 and was posthumously awarded the Kyoto Prize.

My Reality is Different
Ms. Nalini Malani
Nalini Malani is an international artist specializing in a broad range of visual genres including video, projection, painting and drawing installations. Her childhood experience as a refugee during the partition of India and Pakistan gives her art unique power to elevate the oppressed and express the voices of the voiceless, contributing to a decentralization of art. Her works have been shown worldwide, most recently in a solo exhibition that at The National Gallery, London. Malani received an Honorary Doctorate in Fine Arts from the San Francisco Art Institute (2010) and was the first non-Western artist to receive the prestigious Joan Miró Prize (2019).
Ms. Nalini Malani is introduced by Michael Trigilio, teaching professor in the UC San Diego Department of Visual Arts, director of the Suraj Israni Center for Cinematic Arts, and multimedia artist.
